GPI continues the fight to end human trafficking in Nigeria that reduces the dignity of humans, and believes this is best achieved by prevention of trafficking and re-trafficking of persons. Hence, the need for continuous sensitization of persons on trafficking, the processes of legal migration, and the consequences of illegal and irregular migration. GPI also embarks on building personal empowerment skills of students to be able to say NO effectively to trafficking and works in collaboration with other stakeholders and partners in achieving this goal.
The interest of GPI work on human trafficking by the Danish Embassy to Nigeria resulted in the Danish Team partaking in GPI Market Capaign on human trafficking on August 17th, 2017 to Agbado Market located in the heart of Benin City, Oredo LGA of Edo State to create awareness on human trafficking and find out the root cause of migration. The Danish Ambassador to Nigeria – Torben Gettermann, Min of Immigration and Integration – Ulla Tornaes, Min of Development and Integration – Inger Stoobero were present alongside NAPTIP team led by Benin Zonal Commander – Nduka Nwanwene and Salvation Army Supervisor – Major G. Nwafor .
